About CRNN

The Center for Research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CRNN) is dedicated to conducting cutting-edge scientific research and technological development programs in Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies, with the goal of generating tangible socio-economic impact for Algeria. Established under Executive Decree No. 24-323, effective October 1, 2024, the Center is located at the Abdelhafid Ihaddadene Scientific and Technological Hub in Sidi Abdallah, offering an adequate environment for high-level research.

Our Mission: Societal and Economic impact

The CRNN aims to translate research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology into concrete and sustainable economic drivers for Algeria, by fostering locally engineered solutions tailored to the national context, while simultaneously pursuing international scientific excellence and visibility. Through its 4 research divisions, the center is committed to:

  • Advance the energy transition: nanostructured materials for solar energy, green hydrogen, and next-generation storage, tailored to Algeria’s climate and resources.

  • Pioneer ethical nanomedicine: early diagnosis via nanosensors, targeted in vitro therapies, with real impact on public health.

  • Build an Algerian nanophotonics, plasmonics and nanoelectronics ecosystem: ultrasensitive optical sensors, nano-intelligent circuits, and plasmonic materials, for powering future telecom, industry 4.0 and smart technologies.

  • Enhance local resource value: turning Algerian raw materials into high-value nanomaterials.

  • Train talent, publish in top-tier journals, patent innovations, and foster global collaborations and anchoring Algeria’s role in world-class scientific advancement.
